[ad_1] A Northerner lady has questioned the Nigerian public on why they address everyone from the north as aboki. Aboki which loosely translates to “my friend” in the hausa language, has become a general term used to address every northerner who comes to the South-western or Eastern states. However, the word has acquired other meanings which are often times demeaning and derogatory; in fact, it is used to insult a slow person. It was this that made the lady admonish others from referring to them by the name, because it rates them as second-class citizens of the country.
